Removed airbags and fitted coil springs after the SLS compressor started playing up again. The one thing that went wrong was that I re-tapped the M10 holes that had been unused for fourteen years, and a tap snapped off in one of them. Took ages with a little grindstone and centre punch to get it to disintegrate. All's well in the end. Had to pay an extra £17 o the insurance for the change but not too bad.
What M10 holes? I'm going to swap over some springs from my old D2 to my new one, i didnt think there were any bolts involved (other than the bottom shock mount)

The conversion kit came with this spring seat.

You can just see where the holes are here.

The airbag doesn't use them so they had been exposed for 14 years.

Fitted rack and ladder. Tow bar next week then it's going on for snorkel, 2nd battery, inverter, awning and light bar!!

Some people mistakenly think this is the vehicle breaking down......We know it just means the vehicle wants to spend more time with us, so it craves attention......

Cheers

Changed front and rear diff oils and replaced dopey plastic filler plugs for brass jobbies while I was at it.

Started the job feeling guilty that I should have done it 11k miles ago, but finished it feeling smug after discovering that I'd actually done it 13k too early - I'm on 83k and for some reason had it in my head that it needed doing at 72k, whereas it should be done at 96k. Can't hurt!

How often do you change the oils in the diffs?

Cheers

Yeah, just looked at the Haynes manual and Rave both say 96K.

Although different oils are specified.
Funny that the D1 is every 24K..................:confused:

Not sure I would leave my D2 for that many miles though TBH.

Cheers

The oil came out a sort of gun metal grey, and the magnets had about 1/4" of sludge on them. From that I'd say it could do with a change sooner than 96k, nearer the 50k mark wouldn't hurt.
