After the joy of yesterday's central locking sucess I thought I'd get really technical.

Because this has stopped working

Started unbolting stuff

IMG_5924.JPG

Tried too hard

IMG_5925.JPG

Too short and bugger all wire still attached

IMG_5930.JPG

So replaced it with new bolt and extra washers

Motor out for a bit of light sanding of contacts:

Bushes, one of which was siezed solid.

And all back together with rope back on for the first time in months.

Back home from an evening out and had to go and do another video in the dark

Also new dashcam ordered... another Amazon Cheapie but hopefully good enough for what i need

Discovered the return of the 3 Amigos....

Typically I was driving BACK from visiting a friend who has diagnostic kit.

Oh Dear, If you need a hand feel free to give me a shout.

Cleaned it today, and whilst checking stuff found it has a steering guard

How did you not notice it had a steering guard?? was it that dirty??.............LOL

Cheers

Got a complete 2nd hand watts linkage and 2 radius arms a few weeks ago, pushed old bushes out and replaced with genuine Landrover, rubbed down and painted, removed old ones today, fit my refurbed ones, new drop links, anti roll bar bushes and ride height sensors, didn't take long to change as all was done, the ride height sensors need calibrating now as i could not get one connection apart, stuck tight as! few swear words!

I took the SLS filter out and washed it under a tap. Expensive they are , about £6 for a new one.

Spent a few hours with the Fender as I was missing it.

Cheers

new dashcam arrived today - sadly doing family stuff so no chance to fit it

Spent some time yesterday catching up with a friend who is selling his D1... annoyingly D1 and D2 have different stud patterns for the wheels as would have bought a nice set of wheels off him otherwise!

Work done on the 300 tdi,
I took off the old Downpipe with catalyst - flexy was leaking bad, fiddle getting it off.
OK read the manual mmm - next step..........

Had to go and buy a decent 3 tonne jack from machine mart, nice piece of kit, bloody heavy though, did the job of getting axle dangling down enough, found my old heavy duty axle stands which were bought for my old series one UVS 876 (where are you now?) now nicely supported.

The old down pipe replaced with a solid straight thru one - not so much smoke while driving and feels a little bit faster.
New air filter fitted.
replacing the Bias plate and springs tomorrow.

Question; is anyone breaking a manual 300tdi or V8 in Northumberland or Co Durham, I need a good centre console or has anyone got one going spare - I would like to do this job while i'm doing the bias plate.

Cheers Ian

As promised, the weather took a turn for the better so I decided to replace the window winding regulator in the driver's door. No real problems, just fiddly, especially getting the motor to mesh with the gears on the regulator, but it went into place eventually.

While I had the door card off I reseated the window frame in the door, since I replaced the door latch mech. there had been a bit of a gap at the top front which let the water in when I got it washed. Looks ok now.

The other job I did while I was inside the door was to give the bottom 6 inches or so a squirt with Dinitrol 3125 cavilty wax. I've had a couple of aerosol cans since I had the underside done.

All-in-all not a bad afternoon's work.
