Yeah, when I turn that lot on, I've got 440 watts going. It does help when your eyes are getting dim through age!

Yes, it does. The general rule of thumb with additional lights is fog lights which should have a wide flat topped beam should be mounted low and spots which often have a round beam with a long throw are mounted higher up, say above the bumper.
Not understanding beam patterns or just plain making the wrong choice is often the problem when people mount additional lights high up on a roof lighting bar.

seems on the D3 i've notice many mounting the led bars in front of the grills, but then it's very hard to get the grill off

like the bar there as it's out of the way , also good for wide light whilst off road for side illumination

see there's some combined led bar , with spot and flood on the same lightbar

been in a motor with roof lights and noticed the amount of light actually coming into the cab
 
If you are looking for a light for off road, I always thought having it higher to light down into the rough stuff, ditches, rutts etc is what you need otherwise it is all in dark shadow which makes it difficult to read the terrain.

getting some roof rack bars, but wouldn't be keen on fitting any lights on the roof,

ideally i like them on the front grill

have also seen some lightbars fitted behind the front grill

well thought i would get in here and let everyone know my day of "fun". decided today was the day to remove the sedamentor, got under and the 11mm came off with ease. bowl would not move so persuaded it a little with a hammer and it come off. then came cutting the pipes and bypassing so got out the jr hacksaw and cut away to put the pipe in. at this point i was laying under the prop and looked up. o_O would be close to the first face i made then came :( killed the prob doughnut again. cant get one till monday what damage do you guys think it will cause if i drive it until then. (see image haha) thats what i call a dead one haha. gotta laugh or might just cry and im a big boy now so i cant be doing that haha.

yeah closest place to me is bearmach and they aint open till monday, there was a lot of choice words when i found it but to be honest most of them we aimed at the crap off the bottom of the car getting in my eye's haha
 
i'll baby it with the impact hammer in there, if she plays up too much i'll wiz it off and lock up the diff. but she "should" last until monday i only have 1 or 2 small trips between now and then (2 or 3 miles a trip). having said that its 25 miles to go get the part monday. on the up side i can fit it outside the shop lol
 
You NEED to get the KIT so that you can put the 4 bolt prop on ! 1 off a 200tdi or a early range rover ! but if it were mine i would definitely take the prop off before i drove it anywhere !
knowing your luck it will let go & do a lot of damage under the truck !:oops::oops:
 
is it as simple as unbolt the drum side remove the doughnut and pull out the prop then lock the diff! and what damage am i looking at causing driving with diff lock on if the prop is off lol.
 
What have I done to the disco? well I thought I`d have a go at sorting out the squeaking coming from underneath, turns out it`s the damn bearings have collapsed on the front prop "AGAIN", and this one`s a double cardan type, but we fixed the bearings, put it all back and the squeak is still there . . .must be something else.

NONE as long as you don't try pulling a Ambulance out when it's stuck :eek::eek::rolleyes::rolleyes::p
