Tbh its not hard, just bloody fiddly, pretty much anything you want to remove involves removal of other bits which of course involve removal of more bits, until you have two buckets full of bits.
Wonder how many bits I will have left over!
As I get older I really really dont want to spanner in my own time, but this job alone would cost the best part of 1500 quid at the dealer, so far I am 375 quid in parts, so thats a grand I get to keep in my bank account.

Wife had both dipped beams go at the same time, I told her to take it to a garage as it "can't be just the bulbs."
I was wrong. Luckily the garage didn't charge much for just changing the bulbs!

I have more than once across both headlamp bulbs dying at the same time, same with both side brake lights/fog lights and even reverse lamps.
Had merc that had a/c not wokring, had it regassed still no good, took it to auto elec specialist, they changed the blown fuse!
bet ur well pleased that job is out the way , my timing belts are due next year , wonder if it’s worth getting the fuel belt done at the same time
even though I’ve done very low mileage will still get the timing done, will of course need to find a garage as geoff and flack from the D3 forum done them last time , think I’ve only done a few thousand miles, plus will get a new genuine oil pump , tensioner etc fitted
have thought about doing them myself but to be honest don’t feel I’ve got enough experience

I would not be changing the oil pump unless it was the old type
If fuel belt was done last time I would be inclined to leave it alone especially with your super low mileage, if it fails the engine just stops new belt and away you go again.
Plus if its done super low miles since last change, that would say to me tensioner and idler pulleys are also good to go again, so all you would need is the front belt, and front belt on its own is a pretty easy job, so easy if you bought the car to me i would change it for you.
I changed my front belt 7 yrs/55k ago, but not the rear one, so feck knows how old that actually was!

many thanks and very helpful as indeed if that’s the case the fuel belt as u say I’ll leave that one alone, plus they were dayco belts fitted and the water pump was also changed at the same time
That’s an extremely kind offer thank u so much , so would I just need to buy the timing belt and a new Aux belt plse seeing I assume that has to come off, plus of course when the time comes plse let me know the cost to ensure I bring enough cash with me
or do u mean just the Aux belt as of course don’t want to be cheeky if u just meant the front belt and not the timing belt

By front belt I mean front cambelt, yes aux belt has to come off, but thats no hassle at all, wont hurt to change it, think they are under 15 quid.
As for money I had not even thought of that, it wont be very much at all.
Edit, just had a thought if you set up my one flash indicators, reset my ride height with my IID tool, I will charge you the sum total of a can of coke and some doughnuts and maybe a hamlet cigar for doing the belt.

No probs ref the 1 x lever 3 flash lane change and suspension, anybody will think I know how to use the iid, lol , u having trouble with urs then or do u mean for me to use my iid plse

I have the attention span of a knatt, so when the 3 flash did not work first time I gave up, car has always sat down to the nearside another job I was going to do one day maybe possible never!
Yes I have my own IID.
Used Dayco on my d3 and the tdis, none blown up yet!
Im in Maidstone which is pretty much exactly 25 miles from the dartford crossing.

Have u updated urs for the new 2007 software update , it’s a big software where the dashboard all lights up etc
will indeed get both tor the Dayco belts and that’s very comforting there of good quality , is it just them I need please, ie will any water hoses need to come off etc

Ive got coolant so no need to buy any, we can try and catch as much as possible, but I only lost 4 litres doing all the belts so only needed two litres of concentrate.
Just checked 10 litre oats stashed so defo no need to buy any

that’s fantastic , thank u so much plus will cover any costs of materials etc , wondering if it might be worth doing it maybe in the autumn of this year , but of course will work round u on what ever is easiest for to ur goodself

So long as its not raining I am not bothered, I hate working in the rain!

At least I’ve got this and next year to get it done
Got a lift ha ha one day maybe, I have a block paved driveway, everything I do I do on the flat, real pita at times.
Assume it’s not very nice in the summer as well not being under cover , I’m the same actually with my drive , is a blocked paved on the front of the house , got room for 2 x cars which is ideal for me seeing I’ve just got the one car so makes life easier for getting on and off the drive particularly if someone parks opposite me
Must admit got a gazebo myself and is really nice , sun comes over to the front of the house around midday , is nice in keeping the sun off the back of ur head , or if it’s light rain , keep meaning to buy some sides for it

i just changed gas struts on tailgate,at least it doesn`t hit the wife on the head anymore.

Replaced the front passenger door seal with a genuine one from Rimmer Bros.
No sign of any internal leaks from the sunroof or windscreen and I'm not using the air con at the moment. So I came to suspect the door seal.
The old one was not fully in at the top right and when I peeled it off the bottom lip there was rust on the metal lip. Fortunately not enough to damage the lip, and some wire brushing, Kurust and Hammerite later and it was OK to take the new seal.
Dried the carpet out with a fan heater and hopefully the new seal will sort the problem.
