How long does it take to load the new map? Is the battery really at risk of going flat during the process?
Would it not be better to have it checked on a rolling road or are these remaps that good?
Was your Disco sluggish beforehand? How many miles has it done?
I sometimes think my D2 is slower than my old 300TDi!
I'm sure it doesn't help every time i jump into it i've just hopped out of a remapped decatted 1.9TDi FR Seat Ibiza which hits 60mph in 5.6 seconds...
Tha map takes about 5mins to load and, in hindsight, It didn’t require the external power - I was being cautious and following instructions having never done that before

the remap does appear to be very good (so far) and a few friends have the stage 1 or 2 maps on their D2’s and have had no issues. Rolling road would be good but cost, time and distance to available workshop put that option out for me.
It’s done 97k miles and was ok before but having been in others that have been remapped I’d decided that was the way forward! I won’t be doing stage 2 though - not sure it’ll touch your Ibiza though!!

I think the line about the battery might be mappers covering their arse because i can imagine it might not be a good idea to have the process stopped half way through remapping due to loss of power.
Mine's getting on for around twice your mileage so maybe it's it's lack of oomph is because it's just knackered. That said it passes the MOT easy enough. I'd be happy if a remap just brought it on par with my old 300TDi. I think if ANY map got it anywhere near my Ibiza i'd be too scared to drive it!
I'd drop the 1.9 PD130 engine into it if i could match it to the gearbox. It would make a great lump for a Land Rover.
In standard tune 130bhp 228ft/lb which is on par with a TD5.
Stage 1 ~180bhp 285ft/lb equal horses with a 4.0L V8 but +50 torques and thats with standard hardware.
If you start adding an uprated intercooler and turbo 300bhp and silly torque is available...
And in my Ibiza it pulls like a train from around 1500rpm too

Nice return trip from Chesh of the shire over to the classic land rover gathering at Skillington

Never missed a beat, Mrs was impressed at 35mpg and the return drive she did ha

nice to hear u had a good day out, plus must admit very impressed with the D3 on how they eat the miles up in total comfort , plus amazingly quiet , that’s good milage , think mine will do around 32-33 on a run

yep same here mate , but think these are well worth it, pleased that underside of it is all done, just the split charge, A bar, rock sliders m boot sliding floor left to do

oh and much later replace my 17 rims with the 19’s I got , will have to get 5 x tyres for it and know that’s going to hurt, lol

I'd have sorted my spare set of 19s and tyres by now if the clutch hadn't have thrown a wobbler in June ha ha

Never ending story these things and I have two to look after! My dad asked me today " you getting another one? " the answer was a firm no ha

always the way , but alas I think for the age of the landies they are just like any other motor , well that’s if there still in the road that is

must admit I keep looking at a discovery 3 with the petrol 4.4 V8 in it , I must keep off the auction sites, lol

ate ur tyres going to be the same size mate , 255/55/19 , any decisions yet of what u might get plse , I’ve been looking at these , think there around £115 each , plus fitting a balancing

or the Cooper AT/ 3 with the snowflake mark

Same here I keep looking at FL2 i6's

The tyre world is bonkers, I am thinking 255/55/19 road biased for the 19s and putting 265/65-70/18 on the spare 18" set for a mess about

I am still planning on getting the 4 19s and 5 18s refurbed matt black/ gun metal grey. I also have 5 18" and 5 17" for the FL1 its going to cost at least 70+ per wheel to get refurbed and I've 19 of them now ffs

might as well round it off to 20 , lol

Luckily the rims I got are ok , however thinking about it I think the spare has a couple of scratches on it , but not too worried , had to get a new spare wheel winch, got the upgraded one with the steel anti theft collar , as I haven’t been able to get a spare wheel plate I cut some 18mm plywood out , hopefully I’ll be able to now get a 19 inch one as they seem more common , waiting for a second hand one to come up ,

plus ref the winter snowflake marked tyres intend to leave them on all year round, seeing I do very low milage, last year onky done a few hundred miles

oh and want to do another full service regardless of miles

these were the rims I got , plus found an example pic of them fitted on a Disco , don’t think they look to bad, what rims did u get plse

ur right , plus there’s so many to choose from , sound nice in black , my disco is also in metallic black

Also on my A bar, still not sure I should paint her letters in across the top in silver ??

Went to replace my leak off pipes today and discovered 1 of the nipples the pipes push onto had snapped off in the past leaving about 5 mm of metal to hold the pipe on. **** sake! New gubbins ordered and fitted today in between the down pours. I think that's all the hoses for the fuel system replaced now. Fingers crossed that's the end of the Diesel leaks.

Finally got round to start putting the D2 back together. Fitted the sump, with a nice new gasket and sealant. Popped in a new oil pump bolt whilst the sump was off. It did have threadlock on it, and was nice and tight. Removed the redundant steel water pipe from the rear of the engine. It wasnt connected either end, so no need for it to be there. Fitted a replacement electrical connector on the oil temperature sensor, as I accidentally snapped it off, removing the gearbox. Ive bought a new LOF clutch kit, but was going to reuse the DMF, or fit a second hand one I got with the replacement gearbox. Im having second thoughts now, and may buy a new one.

Plucked up the courage to cut a big hole in the side of the truck to fit the snorkel - pretty pleased with it though

Oh, and I replaced the filter, seal and oil in the auto box - definitely smoother this evening (that’s what I’ve convinced myself anyway!)
