Screw it. Got bored, so on jacket, on woolly hat, on headlamp, grabbed a thin bladed screwdriver and some WD-40, and lo and behold, job done in five minutes flat :D Door wasn't properly shut when the central locking was engaged for some reason, which appears to be the root cause of the problem, but the 'pop-the-badge-and-spray-for-England' trick did the job :D VERY glad it was such a simple fix :D

I also noted that the door seems a little low on the latch; might be because of the heavier spare on the door (D4x4 large spare carrier and a Malatesta Koala 265/75R16 on the carrier), so I'll keep an eye on that.

Still going to be on the lookout for sprayable grease, got any recommendations?

Dagnabit  Damn thing did it again earlier today, so, finished my shift, and thankfully having parked up my wagon in one of the bus sheds at the depot, where there was a bit of (a) shelter from the elements, and (b) light (at 23:45 at night!), I had to do it all again. I had to go in from the inside to open the damn door on this occasion, as it just would not release from the outside, no matter what I tried. I'm fairly sure this may well be a temperature-related issue, but we'll see if the repair holds up tomorrow, to see if this is the case or not.

Once I'd got the damn door open, I had the trim card off the back of the door (for a change, without breaking any of the trim clips! WHOOPEE! :p), and, after popping the Landie logo over the latch release handle, sprayed the springs there with GT-85 this time (instead of WD-40). I then took a sharp knife, and (to the tune of a lot of muttered invectives) sliced through the water shedder (that I replaced not two damn weeks ago :(), and liberally sprayed the various bits of lock mechanism, control rods, axles, etc., revealed beneath with the spray-on grease (3-in-1 white lithium grease spray) that I'd bought earlier in the day.

Thus far, it's behaved itself, following leaving the depot, hitting the all-night supermarket, and returning home. We'll see if it holds up when I go out to the wagon this afternoon, when I go to work (I'm on permanent late shift).

Numbers not showing anything.

Cheers

Three door that needed welding and the like :D

Quick followup to the taildoor lock issue from the other day - the white lithium grease spray appears to have done the trick, as the lock (as at end of shift tonight at work) no longer jams in the locked position :) Many thanks for all the advice :D

Sold my ebay special discovery yesterday, come to fit the timing kit and it had the wrong size oil seal in the box. Drove to Craddocks at warp speed and got a genuine replacement one, got back home and fitted everything and started it up (yippee) only to find that the injector pump has started leaking from the top so I had to ring the purchaser up and cancel the sale until after I've mended it which'll probably be the new year:(
