Disco 1 What have I just done to my gearbox....

After a long and tiring day I've just stuck a litre of EP90 in what ever hole this is in the side of my transfer box

I've got the best part of 500 miles to do in it tomorrow towing a car transporter and I'm leaving at 04:00 ish, so how long before it pukes its guts on the motorway?
Answers on a postcard please....

I think it's actually EP75

D1, iirc I put Ep80/90 in mine. yep, says so here.


Just open the filler hole and drain off the excess.

theres nothing behind it its were temp switch would go on models that have trans temp light

That's just a blanking bolt, that hole is usually occupied by a temperature sender, you've probably over filled the oil level.

The oil level should be filled here.

Nope, the fill plug is by the hand brake drum on the back surface

You want to put a plug in that or all the oil will leak out ya know....LOL.

When I took the proper fill plug out it was still below the level it needed to be

Why did you fill it there then just check for excess and drain accordingly surely?
