Today I removed what I'm pretty sure was a radio from my ex utility 110 td5 and whilst I was at it, I removed the battery temporarily (completely, not just unplugging one terminal). After replacing the battery, when I turn the ignition, nothing happens :( - no dash lights or anything.

I have checked the terminals and the earth from the neg. seems OK. I'm charging the battery now but seems unlikely that it's so flat (thought I haven't driven it for a few days and I may have left something on).

Does anyone else have any ideas? I have a voltmeter but no multimeter.

Where abouts was the 'radio' mounted? Somewhere near the drivers seat by any chance? I would suspect that you have removed the ECU, not a radio!

The ecu is still sitting happy under the drivers seat :)

Both the 'radios' I took out had antennae connections on them...They were behind the passenger seat.
 
It maybe I went a bit crazy with the hacking away of wires etc - what should come straight off the battery?

One of them is made by marconi. Do the make ECUs? A charge didn't help so I'll just have to trace the whole system when I get back from Weymouth. Thanks guys

Don't think they are ECUs; the BNC & "D" type connections on the back of the units suggest data comms - they look like GPS / commercial tracker units - any old antenna mounts on the vehicle?
 
Thanks cutty. The BNCs made me think the same. They were going through the antenna on the front and were disconnected (unplugged) before I began tinkering. I suspect somwhere the ignition or similar is wired in series via a wiring block which I've hacked in my fervour to remove the devices.
