Hi all,

So i went about fitting my front and back diff guards yesterday. i found that the previous owner had decided to weld the front one on!
so im having a little issue with that.

So while i ignored the front i decided id have a go at the back one.
After cleaning the threads out for the bolts and fitting the little top plate thing over the bolts on the diff casing, i lifted the thing up and attached it with the 2 bolts in the diff housing. Then i went around to the rear to put the single bolt in the steel plate that holds it all together, and it wont reach!

The guard is up against the diff and everything.
It said TD5 defender rear diff guard on the packet

Am i being stupid?

Matt

thanks fellas, I cant see what ive done wrong to be honest. At the moment its just held on with the front 2 bolts, i just got back from north wales a 200mile round trip and it didnt fall off and isnt loose.

Could it be a disco axle or summit like that? im going to email QT i think with the pics and see what they reckon aswell.

Maybe im supposed to bend that little steel plate or summit???? im at a loss.

my qt is only held on with the bolts at the bottom off diff housing,,never moves ,never come loose, seems fine...and its been bashd a few times

Just make sure the damn thing is well secure... my 11 year old lost the diff guard from my V8 a few months back at Whaddon... It was fine while he was driving forwards... but when he came to reversing out of the deep **** he was in he left the guard behind... didn't find out till we were back at the burger van and by that time the fecker was buried..(err... the diff guard not the 11 year old!)
