So I got my latest £500 project from flea bay... this one in fact :

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2004-54-L...MAzdpJU5z%2FZPMfp5vBc%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

Now if you look closely at the doors - it's got some stickers on there that say "Sport System". I thought these were just the cheap jobs that second hand car dealers used to spruce up old stock. However I've since seen a few other (non commerical) Freelanders with the same stickers.

Did LR do a factory Sport Commercial? If so - what are the differences??

Any clues appreciated....

It's a commercial with Freelander Sport stickers on it, at a guess. Like these.http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/Land-Rover-...cal-Stripe-DAE500040-/172433351583?nav=SEARCH
I'm not sure I'd call boot handle "repaired" as the description said.

Bodged on is more accurate.

I think that's unfair to most bodgers out there.....

I would be glad if it's not a Sport spec as I gather some were lowered. This will be going off road...

Still a good buy I think. Replacement handle already ordered, must be a common problem as they're not plentiful or cheap on e-bay. Body work is otherwise good though, nice dark metallic blue. Just a little bit of lacquer peel on the bonnet. 4WD system working but yet to test VCU to see how stiff it is.

Jobs need doing: New exhaust (someone has de-cat'd it badly and left it blowing), clutch needed to be pumped (now fixed by bleeding "sealed" system), drivers door wont unluck on the remote (new latch on order), key was bent (new one cut from blank and chipped transferred), usual stuck open thermostat, drivers heated seat not working, rear door handle fkd, service & MOT.

Surprisingly all electric windows working as they should - the tailgate even drops as you open it. Needs a good clean - been used by a plasterer.

In all the years I've been Freelandering I've never seen the tailgate handle fixed on with screws like that.

Hope you have a strong heart and deep pockets, oh and a good screwdriver

It was the Ebay listing wording regarding the handle that made me laugh. It read something like. Boot handle came off, but now fixed, see photo.
When I saw the photo, I laughed.
I had to post the photo for amusement.

Made me laugh too Nodge. Almost as much as the original asking price of 800 quid ;)

If the adhesive and the wood screws were considered an adequate fix, one wonders about other aspects of this FL, but it's a project, so all part of the fun ;)

Bet the rear door has rampant rust under that handle - and the likely cause of it falling off in the first place.

I wonder how many miles to a gallon of Rustoleum it does :)

I thought that myself. I wonder how many other items are held together with screws and glue?
