I want some bling (ish) wheels for my series 3. it's been unsympathetically restored (prior to me) and so I might as well carry on so don't moan about it being a shame blah blah blah. quite like the idea of some matt black wheels, have read about disco wheels fitting? and ideas about fit and suppliers? ta
ps paint job next!

prep and paint always just looks a bit home made hence just wanted them to be a bit more special?

Rostyles? no whats that? my steels are rubbish and need replacing, not ruling them out just exploring the options....

I just went to a guy local to me in Tring, who sold me Land Rover Steelies for £10 a rim! Tube Type.

Rostyles are the old Range Rover rims, used on some 90s in 1986/7 IRRC

My steel wheels were caped in years of paint and surface rust.
Lots of paint stripper, and a wire brush cup on my 4" grinder sorted that..
gave it a nice good primer, plus a satin black top coat.
allow about 3 hours per wheel though, but so worth the effort.:D

Oh, I see.
I bought a donor landy for spares, these beautys were on it, 4 off...
Cost me 300 quid though, but I made that back selling stuff on ebay, and still had loads of parts for mine. wheels inc.
Are mud pluggas any good?

Great offroading tyres. Mine were on mine for the 6 years it sat before I bought it, ive done 30,000 miles on them

I've just put series 1 disco steelies on my 74 series 3, they were rusty, stripped them back, painted, then put some 245/75/r16 mud tyres on them, they seem to fit the landy well, look as good as the original wheels (with 235/85/r16), seem pretty wide without extending past the arches. Downsizing has given the landy more low down power, but knocked the top end speed a bit, and I find it slightly more undergeared at higher speeds. I'll try and add a photo over the w/e.

Snatch Land Rover steels, Wolf Steels, Discovery 1 Steels, Mach 5 Alloys, all fit fine, although longer studs might be required.
