Hi What engine would you replace a 200tdi with in a 110 Defender when the time comes.
Would you have to make very many modifications to fit a 300tdi or TD5 engine.
If you fitted a TD5 would you be able to enter the London low emissions zone?

I'd replace it with a 200tdi ;)

Not sure about mods to fit a 300tdi but youd need to do loads to fit a TD5

As for LEZ I believe TD5's ok till Jan 2012 so pointless fitting one from that aspect ;)

to fit 300 properly you would need to change gear box floor plates ,tunnel ,props ,engine mounts etc, id fit another 200 either recon or disco one with the parts of old defender ones swapped over ,but with rebuilt or new turbo

I would go for a V8 running on LPG. That is what I have on mine. The running costs are only slightly higher than the Tdi and it is fantastic to drive.

not if you run on used veg, at worst i pay 50p a litre and get 32mpg, love my numerous v8's but even on gas they were economic suicide with the miles i do.... as said stick with a 200, thy are good lumps and easy to work on and get bits

cheers steve

Where do you get veg oil for 50p/litre?

Or are you talking used/waste veg oil, so not quite the same thing ;)

32mpg avg, you must drive like Miss Daisy :D
