What does the second button do.....

....in the instrument binnacle in a 2006 Freelander 1?

The button on the right toggles between the Odometer and the Trip Recorder, but the button on the left doesn't seem to do anything. It doesn't reset the Trip Recorder as you do this by holding the right button down for a few seconds. Can't see anything in the manual, so assume it's surplus to requiremnts.

Does anyone know,or is it for some extra features that my car doesn't have (it's a Td4 HSE 5 door if it's any help)?

Many people would just say "Do a search" as it's been covered many times before.
it serves no purpose on UK speck cars, but I believe in some markets it's connected to an outside temperature readout. I all ways though that was a strange omission on higher speck Freelanders
