Right i am on the look out for a range rover classic for under a grand - i have found one on autotrader that i like the look of:

I'd be concerned why has it had a new box fitted if the engine was pro fitted ? You can buy far better and later models for that budget. Cloth interior yuk. There are plenty of Classics for that price Landy's Landrovers in Thetford have several. Try the Ad trader (yellow paper which comes out wednesdays they have loads)

Mine has leather interior and i paid £900 for it, although the MoT is now out and I don't have time to fix it needs a touch of welding.

You'll be hard pushed to find a good diesel rangie for a bag of sand or two. :D
If fuel costs are an issue then i would purchase a good rangie and then convert it to run on LPG as well as petrol. LPG is well cheap and you would soon recover cost of conversion, especially if converted yourself.

Yes that may be an idea and it will have a bit more power me thinks, there are a couple on ebay with LPG already fitted for under a grand, just worried about reliability really

Hello,

Nothing wrong with LPG - I've been running my '87 on it for nearly 6 years. It's never backfired or gone wrong and paid for itself within the first 9 months. Just make sure it is fitted by someone who knows gas.

The V8's are worrying at over 100k, it's a question of when - not if - the head gaskets go. Also there's the porous block to worry about....Nice engines when they're running well though, just juicy and they leave you anxious about the aforementioned.
