Body badly rusted, but engine is A1 - what to do?

But I have to admit, you've got me thinking.....

Being serious, I can do the work - I've replaced body panels, chassis parts etc before, and I've got two rather prestigious cars that need some serious chassis and body work ( where ally body meets steel chassis!) to work on.

I do have a whole year to decide what to do...

And perhaps I could find a 3-door body.......

On a proper Job I've seen a 2k car turn into 40k plus

Yup, that's exactly what I want to avoid.
Also, if I poured , say £6k at it, will it be worth anything?
Probably not really.
I'm not faster a museum piece, more a workhorse.

I want to keep the budget in check, and have something nice to use at the end, rather than a minter.

If it wasn't for the very nice engine, (which would cost me at least £4k to replace) I'd probably scrap it out for parts!

I'm leaning toward a p38 at the mo, but then again, I'll keep my eyes peeled for a decent classic.

Weld it up or build an IBEX if you want a galv chassis and body.....

remove and keep the engine for a future project or sell it
scrap the rest.

Buy a P38 4.6 with burnt engine for peanuts, drop in your engine, renew suspension, brakes, exhaust etc. and drive the new classic

The body is shot - it'd be worth rescuing if it was a rare vehicle, like an old Rolls-Royce or Ferrari but it's simply too far gone for simple "welding up" I'd be spending loads of soul destroying weekends simply repairing the rust - not going to happen!

Ibex - yeah, look good, but I want to keep the budget in check! The ibexes look a bit pricey.

Make that pre '89 (not sure of the month) steel quality/thickness suffered with the intro. of the Disco.
