Try Craddocks, was looking around for a couple of friends and about the best value bit of rubber around is the Avon Ranger, an AT pattern, but a bit 'old fasioned' so perhaps not as quiet on road as more modern AT's or AT/2's, but better off road.
Avon have a reputation a bit like Rover used to; they weren't flash, they weren't high performance, but they did the job surprisingly well, and outlasted the competition, and reports on teh ranger would seem to fit with that, and my opwn suspicion that the tread patern is more capable on and off-road than it looks, and with a tread that is to a prod, noticeably harder than most other tyres, likely to offer good tread stability and wear.
BUT, best bit abouyt them is the price; checked them on a few sizes for the different motors needing hoops, and they came out competative or cheaper than equivelent sized remoulds..... and they are a new carcas, so pretty difficult to beat price wise.
As for remoulds.... Land Rover wheels are about twice the size of 'ordinary cars' so the rotational speed of the wheel for the same tyre size is a lot lower, while being bigger they are much better able to disspate the heat that is what normally makes remoulds shed tread or whatever.
Many people reckon that remoulds are more than adequete on a Landy, but, pretty much depends which one, and what you use it for.
On an old series with a 55mph top speed, doing low mileage as a fun-truck, absolutely; for a late model Disco, hammering up and down the motorway, towing, loaded or full of kids, probably not so great an idea.
AND it depends on the remould. Lots of the more extravigant off-road tyres are remoulds, and they get away with it becouse they aren't expected to work well on the road, but there are NOT many 'good' remoulds that are as 'reliable' as a new carcas; they used to reckon that Colways were the best, becouse they applied aviation standard quality control, but there wasn't much else that came close.
But you cant get them any-more as they have gone under...... again!
These days INSA Turbo's seem to have built themselves a good reputation, but prodding a set alongside the Avons, well, pretty much the same money, and the Avons are a harder rubber, so likely to last longer, and be more predictable on the road, AND on a new carcas, even more so.....
So for road rubber, Avon would get my money......
For muds, they would too..... IF they did a mud tyre as competatively, but they dont, unfortunately, so I plumped for a set if Insa Dakars for wet-work; but irrelevent to your need.
Sizing you have mentioned, I presume Disco or Rangie, so I think, the Avons would probably be your most likely bet.
