maybe its for the L405, the PDF just says 4.4 TDV8

it got me worried because when i changed the oil, i guessed how much i put in, read the level as just over half way.. put approx another half litre in and the level hasnt changed at all

.Only ever checked ours and its always 3/4-full ish from memory, so never bothered. I do know the 15min wait always seems more like 20

So much easier than a dip-stick?! Almost as useless as those electronic park-brakes. Completely unnecessary and a backward step.
I'd imagine average reading to account for the oil sloshing around the sump on corners and for inclines.

Pretty sure it was springs on the P38A LUK one. If you rotataed it you could hear the click and with a bit of force you could compress them. I cannot recall if you can actually see them.

If you're used to petrols, diesel engines will always give you black oils. Like, if you put fresh oil in, start it to circulate it and then check it, it's usually black even with an engine flush product used. Just the way dieseasals are!Oil that came out was black as.. well, something in not allowed to say anymore

It's been a while since I touched a TDV8, but it should have a spindle in the oil filter cap, and there's two smaller O rings on that. I always change them on Rovers... I might be less dedicated with some other brands2 small o rings in the oil filter box.. what are they for? So far they are 'left overs'
Only saw the big one to change on the housing

It might be that the filter cartridge fits your engine and the older style ones with the stalk Kermit, I distinctly remember a stalk / spindle, but that was a 3.6... and the newer models with the V6 in have a similar thing. Very odd yours doesn't really

Sounds like everything on my CMX500 - you have to take half the electrics off to change the air filter, and the tank, other half electrics, 3 plastic shields, the ignition switch and a chunk of the emissions stuff to get the plug caps off, let alone actually change the plugs. Thank goodness they are only every 16,000 miles.

Went for quick drive in snow, car did brilliant apart from some wheel spin when on ice, then took it for MOT, passed with no advisory’s, plus complement on mot tester on its condition for its age at 19.

Aye heard it was bad over that side, think M62 is open but was closed earlier near me junction 20-21, all transpennine roads near me are closed I think, holmfirth rd out of Oldham, snake, woodhead, cat & fiddle. Mean roads are clear but slushy, side roads just sheets of ice now.

Snake etc always close although often the Rangie will get through. Be careful though: I couldn't see where the road was once and strayed off the road. Lost a wheel down a hidden ditch. Fortunately I had a shovel etc and wasn't far in as I was creeping my way through but it took 30 minutes to get myself out and there was no-one else around. Usual precautions about letting people know where you are and ideally not going on your own etc etc but my uncle lived nearby with a tractor and you have to have a play sometimes don't you?!
