Yes, not til i get home, don't want to tempt fate! Maybe lunch time tomorrow depending on the weather
Know what you mean, it's bloody freezing here got a job to do on my car but, waiting for parts, so no rush and, it might warm up
a bit at the weekend.

Bugger. Just had the belt tensioner and idler pulley replaced.. something is squeaking again.. sounds driver's side but can't pin point it. Suppose I'm going to have to take the belt off and give things a poke

would a dual mass flywheel failing cause vibration whilst driving?
My Ford one just a bit of judder on sharp take off, and a bit of an odd squeal with gentle clutch use. And went on like that for thousands of miles no issue. Came on slowly too, not in 50 miles.
Loose bolt(s) or breakup of something like a crank damper?

all judder goes if i dip the clutch pedal whilst moving thats why i thought of flywheel

any clues on this one? theres a black box with an orange flashing light, underneath the rear fuse box
big warning sticker on the front saying to connect the internal battery before commissioning and to remove the label afterwards.. obviously that wasn't done, but the LED implies its 'commissioned' and working :D
is it something to do with trailer lights? should it be flashing orange? or does that mean its broked? orange/red usually means bad :D

From some Google reverse image searching and text searching, it looks like a Trackstar tracker. So I think you should have got a fob with it. Or the subscription has expired and it shouldn't actually do anything.

Wow, you're a star! Thank you! Yes that looks exactly like it. I didn't get any fobs other than 2 car keys and the remote heat thingy.

I do need to un plumb it though, it's pulling power all the time

It must have heard i wanted to get it dirty so it's trying to find an excuse
Still not given it/them a name.. don't really want to fall back to 'bastid' o_O

The dual mass flywheel is like 2 circles, front and back but with springs inside. The springs get tired over time and then don't absorb the clatter coming down the crank. Once under load the springs are compressed so it shouldn't make much difference other than the vibration coming down it.

I'd be checking mounts for judder, as above.

Springs? Never seen one with springs, the two parts are usually bonded to rubber like a crank damper.

just been reading up on electronic dipsticks.. seems the 4.4tdv8 has a process..
with bonnet open, ignition on, press cruise cancel twice to enter service mode, this shows the *actual* level.. top up as necessary.. press and hold the cancel button for more than 5 seconds then close the bonnet and turn off ignition to exit service mode. screen now shows an 'average' oil level
is this right? or just for certain cars with this engine? pressing cancel appears to do bugger all for me
