We kissed and made up an hour or so ago. Will ride her tomorrow morning provided she doesn't go in a huff overnight.

Using Dopey's excellent guide :clap2:, I dropped the roof lining so I could get to the crossmembers in the roof. The sealant had gone hard and separated on a couple of them, causing a horrible vibration at tickover and over bumps. I squeezed some good stuff in with a mastic gun, removed a lot of redundant hands free wiring and fixed a couple of missing clips. Runs even quieter now! :)

Can you link to the guide as this is next on my list for access to the sunroof drains. With the sun visor 'clips' did you manage to access the screw without breaking them? Any other advise for all the 14 year old plastic bits?

O.K. it was yesterday but I picked up a new MOT.
Only advisories were a slight weep from a fairly new, metal impeller, water pump and a mention that the gearbox cooler pipes are weeping.
Well if that's all that he can find I'm a happy man.

Now for a thread on where can I find a decent gearbox cooler?

MrGorsky got one recently. Think he got it from Island.

Yea, it looks like there's not much choice these days so I'll be going for a Britpart from Island. I'm just checking that I get the O rings with it, or the pipes, before I order.

I changed my oil cooler pipes, not the gearbox cooler pipes, BUT the o rings did come with the new pipes.

Good thing too because they are a bit of a smaller size. My "generic" ones out of my box of o rings would have been too fat.

was it a big job? how did it go?

Piece of cake.

But I also changed the cooler. My cooler was fine, but my pipes were weeping, I changed both because of the stories I'd read on here about pipes welding themselves to the cooler.

Glad I did too, they were absolutely solid. I wrecked the old cooler experimenting with trying to get them off. It's not worth it. Your time is worth more than the price of the replacement cooler.

Gearbox pipes might be a bit more of a faff, because of where they connect to the gearbox. The oil cooler pipes connect at the front of the engine next to the oil filter, and are very easy to get at.
