Just been out and checked. Same bag, near enough the same place. Admittedly the test-drive was pretty much the same route. The bag has come out from under the band and is leaking like a full-on tap. How? I listened all around for leaks after switching off last night and there was nothing.
Put the old Dunlop bag back on - fortunately I had kept the old bags in my shed, just in case! I'll see how long the Dunlop bag stays up. If it is fine then I'll give Arnott a chance to pick up the phone. If they don't then I'll take the other Arnott off and buy a new set of Dunlops. Not a happy bunny at the moment.
Took the bus for a run into town and the rec gauge failed on me. I saw it spiking when we had some super heavy rain, but today it sand it's last, I am hoping it is just something simple. Quick google seems to suggest check the back of the alternator. So I'll do that tomorrow.

Once on you cannot get the new Arnotts off without damaging the connector.

Now I'm really confused 1: because I wouldn't have classed steering wheel, as a dash panel, and, 2: because the bits mentioned don't 'feel', rubbery, to me. I wouldn't say plastic, but closer to plastic than rubber. With exception of steering wheel, which feels 'leatherish'.
I wonder if that's why @holidaychicken got a rash. I could've sworn that suit was leather

I will have to double check. Either mine is in great nick or has already been removed, because I don't have any peeling bits. I’m with Dopey - swap the bags L/R see if it is the bag or that particular arch/area. Could it be valve be letting go in the block?

A long time ago, there was a problem with the crimping on the Arnotts, maybe you are unlucky and got some old stock.

You cannot. It does not have a collet. It has to be unscrewed and the brass collar uncrimped.
The Dunlop bag is back on and performing flawlessly. So, must be 2 duff bags.
It is not the valve, the bags comes out from under the crimped band at the top while parked up. F*ck only knows how. If I hadn't seen it (twice) I wouldn't believe it myself.

Horrible stuff
. I think mine had been made worse by some crappy dashboard cleaner/re-finisher being put on top of it. I've been gradually taking it off various surfaces but have yet to find quite the right thinners/spirit to properly remove it. Some just make it stickier.

Just returned from (another) trip to South Wales. The old jalopy was faultless. Average speed over the 400 odd miles was 65 at 27.9mpg.
I'm happy with that.
Had a trip to Provence last week driving there in my brother's newish Jag. It is true - the roads in France are amazingly good compared to ours. That and the ride of the Jag meant that when I got back into the old Rover to come home it felt a bit rough...
