i was quite surprised today.. it was 8c outside so i was excited when the car decided for once, to pump hot air from the dash vents, rather than the usual persistent cold which i normally get until i manually override.
thing is it didnt stop. selected footwell vents, no change. selected screen vents, no change.. roaring hot air to the dash vents. turned it off and on again, no change.
just as i was about to open the window, it decided to auto adjust and i stopped cooking.

I'm going to rename this car christine
all my vehicles have been male.. but this one is definitely female. the logic and reasoning is spot on, the attitude, the long memory, the spite, even when i'm right, i'm wrong!

No manual mode?

Worthwhile swapping but it wasn't the noise!

On the way home today I stopped at some traffic lights and the almighty racket kicked off, startling the pedestrians waiting to cross. I stared fixedly at the Jap car next to me and shook my head sadly and mouthed Jap rubbish before setting off. As soon as I could I pulled in as the noise was still going. Bonnet up, screwdriver against ear and I found it! Aircon pump iss making an almighty racket!

Strangely I can now make the noise come back by switching the aircon off. Odd? Switch it off and on a few times and it goes quiet again. My aircon failed a month or so ago so it does fit. Not sure what has failed but it doesn't sound good.

Got home and took the belt off. Hopefully that will keep it quiet until I can get someone to drain the system down for me.

System drained down. Still had all its gas so I guess that is good news!

So, just finished replacing the fuse box. Guess what, everything is working now! Had to cut the original fuse box, unfortunately, but no big deal. Window regulators and the interior next, then to the garage for the diffs, exhaust, oil cooler, carbs and distributor and finally TÜV by end of the month!

The interior lights are still a bit weird, the front door don't do anything, the right rear door switches them on. I can switch then on and off with doors closed so.

No idea what the tacho does, she didn't start. Eith the loaner carbs she hates cold and wet, and today is cold and wet. Didn't force it so, no point as she did start just fine two days ago. The coil has current, I checked.

I've never had a male car. Even my big, bad, V8, Disco turned out to be female 🤷‍♀️😁 In fact with the exception of yourself I've never known anyone with a 'he' car. Apparently it stems from boats and carried over to cars.
