Went out as far as the barn in me P38..

Parked her up,..

And a little voice said..

"check the compressor" - It was fookin boiling hot! burnt me hand when i grabbed it!

Left it to cool.

Prolly done that since i got it as ive never taken the lid off lol

No leaks.

She can sit without a battery for over 3 weeks and she's still dead level.

so eh..

Tits a mystery!
If the compressor is running too much, either the compressor is tired or it's feeding a leak.
As it doesn't drop, the leak will be on the tank line.
 
If he did , he would've told you, the moment you said you had bought one. There is not a 'fanatic' amongst us who wouldn't tell another green oval owner, all about our work on either of the two I mentioned.
Think he’s more of a disco man as far as I can gather, has 3!! He’s had lots of RR too apparently, I’m just learning the lingo so forgive me, it’s a whole new world :)

I'm trying to say this as nicely as I can, and those around here will tell you , nice is hard for me. If you wish to use a mechanic, who you are not sure if he is a specialist, is "taking pity on you, because you did him such a good deal" and you will have to be recovered approx 40 miles from home, each time there is an issue, then that is one way to go. If you wish to use an established, experienced, with recommendation,(from someone on the site where you came looking for help) ,independent specialist, who is, basically , in your back garden, which is very handy for recovery and chasing up, (if need be, although I have never had to chase them up). That is another way to go.

Thank you for being nice to me :) the car is going to Gibson’s for the compressor tomorrow, wouldn’t trust a non specialist for a job like that, the kind chap has fixed the brake issue, cleaned sensors, cleared codes none of which have come back up, put something into clean oil? Something to do with acenuators?? and pressurised tyres etc for me for a small fee, Gibson’s have the part in stock and have been helpful too, all good and I really do appreciate the advice
 
She ^^^ has an L322 too, that never seems to break down

I wouldn't say she never breaks down. However, since I started using Gibson's I haven't had anywhere near the hassles I had with friendly, well meaning, mechanics. I know that the job will be done well, I won't be ripped off and I can have coffee and cake whilst I wait.
What's not to like.

You are stuck with me for another year :rolleyes::D

New box fits surprisingly well tucked up nice. Much quieter sounds more like a car not a tank with two silencers.
Tracking is a little off, will have to set myself at some point. Wammers was indeed correct a year ago when he said my steering wheel is likely not straight, it is now.

Two minor advisories only :):):)
  • Oil leak, not excessive
This is I need a new sump plug, the constant oil changes have not fared well on the plug of unknown origin that came with the vehicle.
  • Inner sills rusted
I presume they mean the bodywork up under the archliners? Can anyone clarify?
Both sound like jobs for the summer, cut a hole for the lift pump next :)
 
I bought mine a present --- a can of Easy Start!

Don't pump easy start through it..

The Easy start will be ingested into the first cylinder on the intake stoke, and that gets the whole "bang" which will peen the ring lands down, and cause loose rings.
Will damage the rings too.

And if you must, make sure it's cranking while you spray it in..

Don't think it will be under the archliners Slide under it and look where the floor meets the sills,I had to do a small patch on the 1998, the 1996 is solid.
