If the wheel refurbers have the gear to take the tyres of they should also have the gear to balance when finished, they don't sound very professional.

My son has a Type R he had his wheels done, I picked it up for him, there were runs on the fresh painted rims... I told them to do the bloody lot of them again, and be back tomorrow to pick it up, they said nothing, went back they were perfect, no apology at all
Don't they go faster with runs? Well done we don't complain enough, well some of us do:mad::D

The worst bit is they're not even local. I was warned against the local guys and was told "carrick alloys have been in business for decades, go there. They're really good". So went out of my way to go to them.
I'm just going to take the Golden Girl to my tyre guy and get him to balance them. At least then I don't waste an afternoon and will know when I drive away the job will have been done correctly.

Thanks Dopey. They could at least tell clients that they do that. Between getting the time of collection wrong, thus screwing up my schedule for two days, putting the wheels on wrong axles( and saying they 'wouldn't charge me' to put them back to correct axles!), which screwed up yet another afternoon, and not informing that balance will be off, I am seriously unimpressed by them.

They should have rebalanced them when they put the tyres back on.

Driven her 2k miles in the last 2 weeks.
Overall average of 18mpg which I'm pretty happy with, especially as I needed to let her run for 10 minutes every morning to get enough air in the tank to lift her off the bump stops!

Who says they are unreliable :)
think you may have an air leak there sir:D

...not in any pain just a bit uncomfortable and cant take bright lights.

If you were prescribed dilating drops you will be sensitive as long as you continue using them.

Long story short, I had eye examination, sent home with a myriad of different drops, many days later really peeved I was still sensitive to light.
Googled my meds, ditched the dilating drops and all was right with the world again.
I was wrongly prescribed them as it turned out.

Yes, I think something isn't seating properly in the valve block. Sometimes I can come back after a week and it lifts straight up, other times it's completely empty and takes about 15 minutes. I've also worn out the pump seal as it's dancing a bit in standard height. Perfect in highway mode so driving around in that all the time at the moment. Just not had time to investigate.

Now that's not bad! I've done just under 4k in the last year :(

Someone was asking about glow-plugs earlier. Well, the missus says it wouldn't start this morning. So I got in this evening and she started first time. However, I got these faults with the Nanocom!

Incidentally, what battery voltage shows in the EDC general tab for your diesel? I have a new battery and voltage regulator that SHOULD be kicking out 14.5V but the battery voltage is barely above 13V on that screen. In the manual it says:

Battery volts: The current supply voltage at the EDC ECU.

So presumably the board has some sort of voltage protection?

Just having a look at Beru glow plugs for the P38 on their site. 3 versions listed. One is "after-glow capable". Well, how would that work if the car isn't setup to supply power after the car has started? Am I missing something?

http://beru.federalmogul.com/en-gb/e-catalogue/vehicle

Of the 2 Beru dealers in the UK, Eurocarparts is supposed to be one of them but there's nothing on their site when I search!

The other one here says Beru quality. That sounds like a copy! It either is Beru, or isn't. Be explicit! https://www.gsfcarparts.com/parts/service-parts/plugs/glow-plug

Think the Beru part number is 0100221163. Land Rover is STC3103.

Changed the glow plugs yesterday on my 2.4 VM, tested first out across battery and it seemed to work but decided to change them all anyway and keep the oldies as spares (for the price probably never get used now)
Anyway still sluggish to start :mad: now suspect the cold start advance mechanism. I will start a new thread to ask about this as could get quite involved.

Temperature sender? Fuel leak off pipes?

Sorry to be dim here, temp sender, is there another one than that for the dash gauge? that one registers ok.
Fuel leak off pipes, all seem good if you mean the little black plastic pipes off the sides of the injectors, no fuel leaks anywhere.

Only had 200Tdi's (in landrovers) and V8s before.

Dont think there was anothe temp sensor as such on the vm, just the cold start advance mechanism.
