What did you do with your Range Rover today

You need to check wheels and tyres as well for weight.
Tend to be cheap thin wheels that usually have little todo.
Not just the little ones, the big ones can be sh!ts as well.;)
 
If I was doing the suspension I put new wheels on as I doubt with my luck they would fit anyway. May look at a whole caravan axle from a decent sized van and get a new plate made up and stick on. But then all this work we could buy a proper trailer we will see how this goes as its always been hire a van or parents cars to camp before.

I've got a trailer here you could have. It needs a new floor and a spot of welding. I was going to fix it up but I'm slowly loosing the willpower as I can usually borrow one when I need one (rarely these days). Pity you're so far away really.

That's how we got this one donated indeed of tlc this was it first trip out (thankfully made it to site). Now need to convince the other leaders to get a tow bar and some to learn to drive before we look at a second trailer.
 

Fitted a new leather gaiter £7 of ebay, used double sided tape to stick it on the gaiter base..
Ebay scrappy and £10 for a used gear stick with the reverse in the right place and a complete gaiter base as all the clips on mine were broken.
New stick is shorter and now the gaiter base stays in place and looks much better than the mess that was there. Pic has all the old bits.
 
Swapped over to my cr@ppy wheels and tyres ready for laning next weekend.

Discovered some f*cking monkey had used an airgun on my front nearside wheel and cross-threaded a wheel nut. I've managed to reclaim the thread and the nut torques up OK but I'm still p!ssed off and still fuming.

Anyone know how the wheel studs are held in? Are they welded to the hub? Is it a new hub job to do it properly?

I don't intend to do it myself. I intend to take it back to the useless f*ckwit who stuffed it up and get them to put right what they did. Of course, it was a while ago so they'll no doubt claim someone else did it but I can only try. The fact it torques up presumably means it is OK?
 
While changing the wheels at the weekend I noticed a CV boot was leaking. Now, this is odd because I had replaced it. So, I whipped the wheel off. What I discovered is that the larger CV clip supplied by sh!tpart, although it appears tight, isn't QUITE tight enough and as it gets warm, expands just enough to let the grease slowly leak past. As it happens I nipped out at lunchtime to Allparts for a standard CV clip (already had CV grease). So, this evening I popped off the boot, refilled and replaced with a standard clip. MASSIVELY better.

So, if you got for the Britpart CV kit (and to be fair the boot has been on there a while now and hasn't fallen apart yet) then nip to your local factors and buy a bog-standard clip for under £2 because the sh!tpart one isn't worth 2p.

Incidentally, did I mention the Britpart brake calipers are so chunky they leave very little clearance (we're talking a few mm) between the caliper and the inside of some designs of the 16" rims? Strangely enough the Land Rover ones are more sleek and rounded and now I know why.
