Never mind Better luck next time:D:D

Near-side was more entertaining. The bl**dy press bent out of shape trying to get the new one in. Clearly an Ebay chineesium special. After a lot of mucking about given up and will have to get a replacement. Talk about a throw-away society: lucky if you get 1 car's worth of changing ball-joibts before it is f*cked.

Look on the bright side, even with buying a new tool its still cheaper than getting a garage to do it:D

Did you douse it in oil? Trick is get it hydraulicised

JFC. They're about £7 here. You're not telling me there are no imperial prop nuts in the States and a cheap tool?!

The nuts and bolts are not a problem but no one over here is going to be selling that special tool. I don't see any advantage over a thin wall socket and extension anyway.
My brother told me Snap-on has a thin wall impact socket but it's something like US $30.
I will just get them snugged up good with impact and finish with box end wrench.

My old Halfords set works fine but it is easier with the tool.

This is what you really need with the arms on both sides of the press but it costs 7 times as much!

Had a run to the hospital this afternoon, I usually leave 1 1/2 hours before appointment to give 1/2 hour to sort paperwork, and add 1/4 hour onto journey time for the krapton factor. First little town I have to go through has road closed so end up taking a 6 km diversion, so that's the 1/4 hour more or less gone already, hope there are no other problems.
Then I notice the temp gauge hasn't moved off the stop, bummer, carry on with fingers crossed. In reality in 6 years of ownership I have never had a cooling problem, but even so I was glad to get back with no issues. Job for tomorrow - look for disconnected wire from when I changed the filters last week.
It's just unsettling when something like this happens, especially with the VM lump, and it was an appointment I really did not want to miss.

Ordered new dampers from Bearmech, forgot it was the jubee weekend and only selected standard delivery. Need to call them now and see if they'll let me pay the difference for next day.

Glad you made it there and back without too much issue. At least with an older engine you're only without dials when you leave something off. A modern car would have thrown a right fit and you have been looking for the wire before you could leave!

Perfect. We have the right sized spacer things if you need them. In fact, if you want to bring it up round the back of the house we could give you a hand. You might want to paint the brake-disc shield while you have it off.

Thinking about it, I have to come down and pick up Dopey's boot liner at some stage. If MrGorsky is done I could probably drop them off.

Hope it's a wire off or a duff sensor and not lack of coolant:eek:
