Not very often you see the traffic cops here in the city doing there actual jobs unless it is an accident as if they did and actually stop everyone not wearing seat belts, speeding and talking on phones, well the city would come to a standstill as that's most drivers but they would make a fortune in bribes as that's how it works here (they normally lurk just outside the city on the start of the duel carriageway so as to not cause disruption but collect a good amount) but its that time of year and they must need some extra cash for the Christmas party.
I was going across the city when i started to get flashed up and as its never happened in years was thinking what's wrong with my lights??
Sure enough next bend Traffic stop for every other car and not a problem and as I guess its a shake down. (no breathalyser or licence check )The cops are not really checking just putting their hands out and if you don't pay pulled to another bay for a bigger check which will delay you , My turn in the trap and the cop knocks on the passenger side widow with his stick so I lower it for him to put his hand in and say something unintelligible even for my pidgin Russian. So he shouts out again and I shout out wrong side pal come around here. He shouts again and i shout again he finally looks into the car as a que is now starting to build up. Totally confused by me sitting on the other side of the car the look on his face was priceless. He just could not figure it out and with me just saying so how can i help officer in my bestest English he lost it started to do the English thing of when abroad that is if they don't understand you just shout what you want and finally after toots from following cars awaiting their shakedown just waved me on without me parting with a single Rubel. Thanks RHD P38

Funny you should mention that, we got pulled once in the UK in our LHD, we drove past a copper (we were looking for an industrial unit he was checking) so it was slow, M was on the phone and he saw flashed his lights and we stopped side by side, M wound down the window and he said "you shouldn't be on the phone driving" So I just lent across and said "excuse me officer I am the 1 with the steering wheel".
We all actually had a giggle about it and he helped us find where we were looking for:).

Nothing to the RR but took the Bosses BMW for an MOT. Noticed it was leaving a smoke trail like one of the Red Arrows. Got to the garage and oil was all over there exhaust manifold.traced the leak to the timing chain tensioner, tightened up and all good sailed through the test . Job for tomorrow, down the car wash and use their jet wash.

Mate of mine (half Welsh, half Chinese, looks quite american native) was in Boston USA looking for the British embassy, as he lives over there in Vermont. Couldn't find it so turned in to the cop shop when he saw it thinking they must be able to help. Realised he had the wrong entrance as everything in there was painted black and white, with one cruiser heading towards him. Officer was already reaching down to his waist. Mate wound down window, put on poshest British accent he could, "Excuse me, my dear fellow, I'm looking for the British Embassy and seem to have become lost. Could you render assistance please?"
He said you could see the cop relax and just think 'Another lost clueless Limey'.

A good while ago I was in my French plated LHD Disco V8 driving along the M4. Kept passing and being passed by a car, we were both doing around 80mph, blue flashing lights behind so pulled into the off ramp, copper went straight past me and nailed the other car who was in front at the time. The copper then waved me on, I guess he didn't want the grief of booking a froggy motor.

Careful with that jetwash around the injectors!

injector is either leaking or sticking open while the engine is off, not sure which
stinks of unburnt petrol for a minute or 2 on first start up then sorts itself out. doesnt seem to be leaking during normal driving or warm idle as the fuel trims look ok
any ideas? will try some injector cleaner first
unless you think its a dodgy plug?

Still a slight whiff of rubber in the cabin from the new heater hoses but not unpleasant.

I've definitely got a misting of oil on the chassis leg near the oil filter but I cannot see where it is coming from. It can only be the oil cooler pipes where the rubber crimps on but there's nothing obvious.

The plastic top of the filter was the culprit on mine, the replacement O ring that came with the filter was too thin.
