What companies fit galvanised chassis's?

Hello!

I realised today my land rover hand sunk on one side and after looking found that the rear off side chassis suspension mount has half snapped off!

It is about time I get a galvanised chassis fitted and was wondering if any one new good companies that I can compare prices for fitting etc.

I will need to get it done asap as I really need a car.

Any help/advice greatly appreciated.

Ultimately I would want to fit it myself, but I don't have a drive, my mechanic skills are ok, but have only had the landy a year so not sure if I would be able to do it. Also if I were to spend my time doing it it would probably take ages and I might need it to drive soon ish. The savings would be great but I don't know how I can get around the above. I live in Tring Hertfordshire if anyone wants to lend a hand! :) So anyone knows any good, reasonably priced fitters I would welcome the name, (or any other advice)

I'm in the middle of doing mine on my own, it took me 4 days to completly strip it, i'm now starting the rebuild, but I spent a day painting the new chassis and axles. They are a doddle to work on, i found it easier removing rusted up bolts by over tightening them and snapping them, I'm putting all new in anyway. If you could find somewhere to do the swap and a willing pair of hands then you should be able to get it done in about 3 weeks.
 
Is there a good guide to follow giving info on best places to start etc? I might have to have a think if I can do it. Are there any particularly difficult parts/specific equipment required?
 
Its all relativly straight forward, I started by removing all of the doors first, then the roof/hardback (mines a 90 van) you'll need a lift off with this, then I removed the seatbox, transmition tunnel and floor panels, I then removed the rear tub (after disconecting the rear wiring) the tub is quite heavy me and a mate lifted it off but it would be a hell of a lot easier with 4 people, I did all of the above in one day, the next day I removed the screen and both wings and removed a bit more wiring. You are ready then to remove the bulhead, leave as much on it as you can ( mines complete with dash and sterring column). Then remove both props and you're ready to lift the engine and g/box out, it can be lifted out as one unit (I have a 1ton hoist and lifting beam in my garage) Then you're just left with the axles and suspension. Simples!
 
Brilliant thank you, I might look to rent a garage somewhere near, that might be the best idea. What parts have you replaced? (suspension, dampers, chassis etc?) What cost for your total build? Thanks again
 
I bought a new secondhand td5 galv chassis for £600 (bargain or what!) I'm also fitting a pair of double cranked trailing arms from Adrenaline 4x4 (ebay) and poly bushes throughout, plus a few other mods as I'm going. I've spent around £900 so far, Richards Chassis quoted me £1380 inc vat to supply a new chassis. So i'm still a fair bit in front and i've got a few upgrades as well.:)
 
Woah, well hopefully I won't have to spend that much, I'll just start with the chassis and see how it goes there. The frustrating thing was that I had pretty much got my 90 working perfectly, maybe I should have swapped the chassis before building/repairing what was on the old one :/
 
Yeah. Getting back to the chassis change. Try Brian at Bishop Auckland 07854413676. Top Fella and good work. New chassis, suspension, brakes, brake lines, exhaust, and other particulars. Also collect/deliver vehicle.
 
There's a company that used to advertise in LRO (might still do - don't get it any more) who would supply and fit a galvie to a 90 for £2,300 which i always reckoned to be a pretty good deal.
 
MBrown, For my 110 300tdi I used a guy called Paul who works in the unit next to Richards chassis. Highly recommended.

You buy the chassis from Richards and they book you in with Paul. I had a galv chassis and galv bulkhead fitted, together with galv body/gearbox crossmembers. Took him just over a week. I also supplied him with new suspension etc to fit. Not had a single problem since.

Hey all see above, I used island 4x4 or otherwise known as island landrovers. Fitted me in really quick, good price, would recommend, guy called martin, bit unorganised at times but great worker :D
 
In the above pic it was taken a couple of hours before completed just in case you were wondering why the bolts were missing on part of the read crossmember :D
