What Cable Should i use on a Superwinch H14W 14,000lbs winch? The general consensus on the web is that it uses a 12mm cable. Does this sound correct?? before i go and order some.

you need to know the maximum watts at maximum load. divide that by 13 and it'll give you the current draw. just make sure ya cable is capable of handling that amperage..

Ah sorry, i don't think i've been clear enough!! Muppet that i am!

It's driven of a PTO from the engine, so its the Pulling bit i'm enquiring about???

Sorry :frusty:

They can vary. Look at the plate on the winch it should say there. they can be 8mm. 9mm.10mm, 11mm, 12mm. I'm going for 11mm on mine.

It depends on the drum size. The drum on my truck superwinch is 10" most of our trucks are 8 or 9". I think my landy drum is 13" (can't remember). I have 150' of 11mm on my truck winch. It is the max size I can go. I have to be extemely careful when working on a short cable. I can only overlap by one layer as my cable is 4 layers deep. I rekon I'm gonna go 180-200ft of 11mm. It is very difficult to snap cable upwards of 10mm. I would rather have a longer cable with the ability to double it up with a snatchblock than a short single cable of a larger diameter.
