what battery for key fob please & spare key required

Hi

I have a Freelander td4 2004 plate, when we bought it there was only one fob. We now need to order a spare fob, any ideas who is reasonable for a replacement please?
Also are existing fob has a low battery, i am going to go to halfords to get a replacement but they need to know what battery is inside, any ideas please?

You can open it without replacing the battery, at the fat edge of the plip you'll see a space to get in a small flat bladed screwdriver in where the keyring loop sits. Just pry that gentle open there.

I've replaced hundereds of plip batteries and only 1 or 2 have ever lost their coding from it.

cr 2032 according to the handbook and you can get 2 from wilkinsons for about £3. if you do lose the code then the book says to press either button 5 times in close proximity to the car and that should recode it. you can buy keyfobs on ebay. i think the rover ones work as well but havnt tried them.

If you follow the replacement guide in the owners manual you can't go wrong.

I would suggest that a dealer is your logical place to go for a replacement fob.

The batteries you r looking for are 3V CR2032 LITHIUM BUTTON CELL BATTERIES, I got 10 from ebay for under two pound.they work a treat, when u change the battery just go up and stand next the car and press the button 5 times fast and it will work again. It did it for me.

Thanks will get a fob from ebay. Just need to get a spare key with transponder. We presently have 1 key & a fob. The fob is now worn so needs replacing so we have to open the door manually. This has prompted me to now get a spare fob (by ebay) & then try the 5 blips things & to find somewhere reasonable for a spare key with transponder... landrover quoted £380 for key & fob including coding them!!!!
