Hi my p38 has a wet footwell, I have traced it down to water getting in to heater box , after a heavy rain today I got in after work and pressed the PROG button and I heard a washing machine noise lol
It was the fan blades swishing water around!
I took the under tray down and removed the pollen filter which was wet and it is deffinetly coming in through heater box,
Any common places where it may have a drain blocked or a "gasket " perished?
Don't wanna start stripping down all the scuttle covers for no reason
Thanks

There are drain points in the intake ducts where the pollen filters are I am sure.....also if the foam on the scuttle is perished this will let quite an amount of water to get in.....

If you have RAVE look for reference to the drain locations....

I had a similar problem. Water was coming past the pollen filter seals - a strip of insulation tape along the top edge of the pollen filter covers fixed it. The covers themselves were slightly bent, which I guess is the result of the screws being at either end and nothing holding them in at the middle.

I had a problem with a wet carpet on the left of the drivers side footwell , this turned out to be coming from the 2 pipes that work off the heater under the concole on the drivers side, the seals sometimes go?
worth a look ? might be the problem

i had this problem, the air con drains either side of the gearbox was the problem, a pipe had disconnected it self and, reconnected the pipe and water came flushing out, no problem since

Hi ash g. Where exactly does the top of the drain tube connect to? Is it a case of removing centre consol and transmission trim.

I keep getting a wet patch drivers side (deffo not coolant) Whenever I unblock the a/c drains I always get a flow from the passenger side tube but never drivers side. So suspect this could be my issue.

i didnt have to completely remove the centre console, i got a drain cleaner/unblocker and shoved it in the air con drains by the gearbox, it came out just behind the conlsole and into the foot well, this was on the passenger side so might be different on the dvr's.

Thanks for that, out with the pipe cleaners it is then.

I have a very wet drivers side footwell.

It's not coolant.

I have taken apart and looked at the pollen filters, they are dry as a bone, and it doesn't look like water is getting in there. The carpet is dry under where I'd expect water to drop if it had come in through the pollen filters, so that leaves me with the air-con drains.

There is what looks like a high water make on the carpet from the centre console near the foot rest. Would this suggest a leak from the aircon?

Lastly, what am I looking for under the car to find the aircon drains. I understand they are two pipes either side of the gearbox, but whereabouts next to the gearbox?

And what will I need to clear the drains out? Thin wire or just a squeeze with my fingers?

Many thanks.

Al.

Pollen filters dry does not mean that the water is not getting in under the pollen filter mounts where there is a rubber gasket. Wire coat hanger for the aircon drains.
