Finally got to play with my D2 td5 today. I've had a few electrical gremlins due to water ingress.
I only have central locking at the door and dashboard switch until I turn the ignition on. It then doesn't work until I take the battery terminals off and back on. It then works again.
Also the hazard light works before until I turn the ignition on and then doesn't work until I do the same thing with the battery. The wierd bit is if I leave the hazard on then turn the ignition on they stay on and don't turn off until I either take the 2 relay out or battery off.
I tried to clean up the fuse box up last week it had a bit of corrosion on but not much. I did initially have a blown fuse forgot which one. So I can only think of one the internal relay's is either sticking or the coil has gone puff. So I think its a new box

Yes, better rule that out cos it's not expensive, two things are important:
- to be from the same modell(facelift or not)
- disconnect the battery before the swap then after battery reconnection turn ignition on 2 and let it so 5 minutes

Thanks for the reply I'm going to get a fuse box when I get paid. And I have seen the relays for sale and I might change them either like for like or put replacement ones in but I think it might invalidate my insurance as it would be a modification etc.

Three of these and and another type

That's a very nice tutorial but IMO too much work for something which might not be the same as you have problems with the indicators too which are controlled by the IDM(the integrated circuit) and if that's at fault you can change the mother of relays too cos it'll be futile.

Yep plan a is to get a new box plan b is to mess about with the old one and take some readings of the coil ohms etc and see what is what etc.
It probably won't happen but it's a excuse if the wife parents ever come over.
