I was in the Royal Marines (y'know, the proper ones) and we had some yank SF come over for training. We invited them to play Rugby (mans game). They agreed to it as long as we played them at Gridiron.
We agreed to Gridiron first half and Rugby second half.
First half we stood around for a long time wearing the sort of padding that coppers used when training dogs. There was a ball involved somwhere along the line but as soon as someone paid any attention to it, we had to stop chasing it and stand around and do nothing for five minutes. Strange game, its a bit like job hunting in Liverpool .... none of us quite got the hang of it.
Second half, we came out ready to play, the Yanks took one look at us with no padding on and refused to join in. Scared of getting hurt!
Tough breed the yanks!
