Weird noises....

Hello,

I have a disco 2 TD5 V Reg 96K miles.

Today i got home turned off the engine and there was a noise coming from a box underneath the car directly below the passengers door.

I have never heard it before and was quiet then got really loud with some vibration in the car and then went to like a pulsating sound. To start with it sound like a fan or a pump of some sort running after the engine was off.

Please help, It is booking into the garage tomorrow anyway for a leak in the coolant system.

That'll be the SLS compressor running.
Quite normal.
You probably parked on a bit of uneven ground or slope.
The truck is just trying to level itself up.
If it keeps running for more than 30 secs, it could be a sign of a leaky airspring.

thankyou, yes it was going for about 5 mins so must be something wrong.

Does its arse sag over night?

I may have been a little bit hasty with the 30 sec bit,
IIRC it takes about 28 mins for the ECU's to shut down.
It just does'nt like where you parked it.
The only time to worry is when its on it's arse in the morning.

IIRC it takes about 20 mins for the ECU's to shut down.
It just does'nt like where you parked it.
The only time to worry is when its on it's arse in the morning.

The only problem is that the compressor doesnt have to be very noisy ... being so could be a sign that it's on its way out
