So, 8 months ago I payed £900 for a slightly modified Disco 1 300tdi auto (2" lift, rock sliders, snorkel, steering guard and tubular bumper). After getting stuck a lot I purchased some steelies and some insa turbo special tracks.

However now I am kind of getting in to it and a few notes later I am picking up phase 1 of my project from Joe at Muddy Bottom 4x4/ New Forest 4x4. Photos and further details to come, but based on the chassis being 100% rot and damage free and the extra mods that they have put on it, she's looking great!

So, after leaving the truck with New Forest 4x4 for a week, she now has:

Axel, transfer box and auto box breathers
Re-painted rock sliders (supprise, but joe couldn't stand flaking ones!)
New close fitting winch bumper (replaced the old non-winch tubular bumper)
Reinforced steering guard
Straight through exhaust (sounds the mutts nuts now!)
Cooling fan override switch
Custom removable towbar or recovery eye
Rear door ladder

Take a look below for picks!:

Axel breathers (turns out that's exactly what the grooves at the top of the snorkel are for!)

Replacement bumper. Looks much better than the old tubular one! All it needs now is a winch to complete it :)

Straight through exhaust, sounds amazing. The tip has been tapered to give her just enough back pressure to make no difference to normal driving.

Custom towbar and recovery point. We all know that the standard towbar hangs WAY too far down when off road, so they designed this custom one for me. Essentially the rear cross member has been strengthened and welded to encase a box housing. As you can see, the standard bumper fits right over the top as normal.

Fitted with recovery point. Both are both secured with 2 tractor pins, so no risk of it coming loose!

So what's next I hear you say. Well at the moment she is riding on a very worn set of pro comp + 2", so a new HD kit (with cones and braided hoses) will be first. To then be followed by a winch and pump/ turbo tune. Ultimately looking at getting lockers or LSD's (not sure yet) a body lift and a new paint job, will update as and when. If anyone is in the Southampton area i would highly recommend visiting Joe at New Forest 4x4 a visit, they have done most of the work on the truck (plus bits to tidy her up for free) and to a very high standard.
