Well, mine is all set as you can see in the pic...

Nipped over to the Newbury showground today as it was a Land Rover spares day and bought an extra 2 axle stands for a tenner....

I've washed it underneath God knows how many times and wire brushed with the air grinder..

Today I also painted some areas with red oxyde, these areas were mainly at the rear of chassi, where at some point it had a new rear crossmember put on, but they didnt protect the welds properly...

If I have time tomorrow I'll cover the brakes with plastic bags and then start spraying underneath..

My chassi is quite good, looking underneath it has been waxoyled, or protected with something else, at some point and also had new outriggers and even the brake pipes are all copper...

you said you sprayed with clear? I've only bought the black stuff as I think it will be easier to spot if bits start to come off in a years time...

Did you get alright on top of the chassi rails? I was looking at the pipe that came with my gun, for cavity spraying, and was thinking of blanking the hole it has on the side and just use it to spray in awkward areas... or does the spray from the gun get everywhere?

No matter how many times I jet washed and scrubbed I kept uncovering areas where potfulls of mud had collected.

I used black most places and clear inside the rails. I found the gun spray had a good range and coverage and got on top of the rails fine.

well, mine is done!!!!

what a fokin nightmare to get it to spray in a mist and not like cement.... and yes, it does a hell of a mess, luckly I had some old painters overalls, mask and goggle laying around in the garage, which I used for it.

chassi looks sweeeeeet!!!!

yep, I did miss it, I even left the 5L and 1L can outside by the garage door in the sun while i was covering the brakes and moving the cars off the drive....

I used 20% mix as it says on the waxoyl can, but had to add more to it.

should I give another coat tomorrow?

I dont think I did! :p was half 7 and I was still outside with a torch checking every bit of the chassi

i thin it more and use paraffin gun gives better mist and coverage ,but its definately a job to make you feel good transformation is dramatic

and I love the smell!

90 is still on the stands so I check it over tomorrow and then fit the new suspension, everytime I go out for a smoke I can smell the waxoyl...lovely!

Yes it is definately a nice feeling. I keep kneeling down and looking underneath to admire the new paint job - looks better than the oxidising green on the body!

Looks like you've got a great set up there and it looks great. Am so glad I didnt put pics up, the mounds of waxoyl laden dustsheets, kitchen roll used to mop up spills and the fact that my gun would not fit the thread of the 1 litre waxoyl cans so I had to hold both the gun and the can whilst spraying.

Its also great for me as all that time underneath has given me an intro into all the seperate parts. Not an easy job but very pleased I was persuaded to diy.
