Hi new to this so here goes! im on landy number 6 so not a novice and have a Freelander 2 on an 07 plate. Really nice to drive, useful in recent weather etc except for one annoying thing! Driving normally on b roads, at an acceptable speed, then without warning a wave of water covers the whole of the windscreen from the left when going over the shallowest of puddles! I am wondering if this is a design fault but i havent heard of anyone else having this problem and my other freelander didnt do this as obviously its a different design. Im used to it now but it does scare the crap out of any unknowing passengers:eek: and even with wipers on auto is often not enough to keep the windscreen clear. Iv tried driving slower, but whats the point? During the recent floods due the the thaw hitting water square on and it still happens and completely leave me blind! any thoughts anyone? cheers.

4x4's with lots of space between the tyre and wing all do it - it is however never 'without warning' unless you drive at night with no lights on...
just slow down or get your wipers on before you hit the puddle, you could even try driving around the water if it bothers you that much!

I agree with Lerk, it's a 4x4 thing, my RR does it too, but I do find the side with the missing mudflap isn't as bad as the other. I reckon not having the flap actually allows the water to flow down the side of the car, rather than bursting out sideways. Could always try one of those front of bonnet deflectors too.

You dont want to be driving your gaylander through puddles .

YOU KNOW WHAT WILL HAPPEN. In all honesty just slow down!!!!!!!!

If you think it's bad with a freelander, you should try it wiv a deepender.

Something like this happens, eh Ratty

That was impressive stuff, reckon yours was the biggest splash of the day. I think Pikey's was pretty close behind. Thats what probably caused the light problem he had after his run.

I knew he was a tight arse but I did think that trying to smuggle water off the plains in his lights was taking things a bit too far.:D:D:D

Its ok for you guys... he drained the water out of the lights and filled the bloody kettle up with it. :D

Personally i think you should put your wipers on before you hit the puddle and floor it to create a splash like this........LOL :)

:welcome2:

Probably not the best practise I know but I do go for the big slash when we have flooding on quiet country roads, my boy's love the resulting water going everywhere:)
