Hi, i was just wondering whether it was possible to seal my headlight with clear silicone as today i went wading and blew the main head light bulbs on my Defender. It's a 1991 Defender and some how water got into the head light and now there is water swishing about with broken glas aswell. It look's like there should be a side light in there aswell as the main bulb, i hav'nt took it apart yet so don't know whether it's bunged off. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Thanks Terra Dog

yep everyone who's ever gone wading. most peeps put a rubber grommet in the side lamp hole but even that doesn't cure the problem.

Do you think if i seal the headlamp as much as possible with clear silicone it will be possible to make it water tight, or is there a headlamp set on the market that is completly sealed?

FFS are yu completely stupid Both me and Wilts landy man have told you sealed beam units are water tight. You can't silicone the bulb in place because you won't be able to get the fooker out to change it if it blows.

And yu cant seal the light cos when the lights on it gets hot. When it gets hot thr aur in it expands. When the air expands it forces out past any seal. When it cools diwn it sucks water back in. It needs to be vented.

Okey Dokey, i'll just have to go wading without my head lights on, LOL then drain them after, bollox thats hassle, don't fancy sealed beam headlights if the output is ****e, i have no spots.
