Everytime it rained I had water in the footwell making the carpet wet.
After changing the door seals and checking all around the windows etc. I still had water coming in. The sound proofing foam was also wringing wet and probably never dried out properly.:(

After some extensive investigation (ie. sitting in the car with a torch while it rained) I eventually tracked the source of the leak down.

The water running off the rear bonnet drain channel was running onto the top of the drivers wing, then back down inside the bonnet onto the foot box below the brake and ABS gubbings, before running in around the bolts holding the throttle assembly.

I removed the throttle assembly, cleaned up the area both sides of the foot box, applied a good coat of primer, then when dry taped over the area with some self adhesive roof bitumen tape which is as sticky as sticky can be. I then sprayed over the whole lot with some Landy green paint and refitted the throttle assembly. It looks like it was done at the factory and no more wet carpet. :D

So if you are having the same problem this may be the solution.

Good spot. We should all be plumbers:) (I have I am sure other do too) a 35 page Land Rover water ingress manual that covers lots of other leak issues and how to locate and fix. If you or anyone else wants a copy send me a message with your email address and I will mail it to you. Certainly being tested with this weeks weather :)

Why would they want to do that - when there is a copy in Common Faults and Questions - Land Rover Zone
