We found a rather long ford while out in our '03 Freelander TD4. I walked along the raised pavement, it started pretty shallow but went to a bit over a foot so we went for it... 3 times. Good fun. That got me to thinking what is the max depth? (something I probably should have known before :D)

We were on our way back from flying so I had my clip on camera and made a quick film. Not exactly extreme but it cleaned some of the mud off:

Hee, shoulda got the missus to surf the bow wave! Is the music from a 70's porno? Bargain. My Sport is 30 cm lower than a standard so I'd be interested in knowing depths too :)

Looks like we're getting closer.

This is OK

Top of the wheel rim is about where the manufacturer states is ok. But you have to think about all the wheel bearings, engine pulleys and oil seals etc which will get wet. Bearings and seals don’t like water. Also water containing mud etc is worse. Hence I try to avoid it whilst off road as it’s annoying to clean up afterwards.

Im not sure how deep is too deep. But I know which side this is on...

Freelander Stuck

This was about 5 miles away from me.

ha ha, they kept calling it a jeep, and look at someones comments:

"Most landrovers come with a power winch option for just such an event - a small amount to pay for being able winch your own vehicle out using a nearby tree. then again most owners these days are chelsea tractor morons who just want to look flash and have more money than sense. i still think a special extra test should be required to drive anything this size.
