I hate asking advice as soon as I join a forum. I'm a memeber of a few other forums and always do my best to try and contribute. Unfortunately, I don't know an awfull lot about landrovers so my contributions will be to minimum until I learn more about them.

Anyway, to the point.

I have only had my 03 Discovery about two weeks, I've noticed that the passenger footwell is absolutely soaking. Roofliner is dry so I assume it's not the sunroofs. Upper part of the carpet heading toward the box is dry, drain plug under the carpet is in place, also the upper part of the carpet where your feet would normally rest is also dry. Does anyone know where the likely place of the leak would be? I've currently lifted the carpet slightly and put a hair dryer on it to try and get it dried out. Thanks in advance.:)

Mine had the same problem dealer took it back and checked sunroof drains and aircon drains. The fault was the aircon drains, so it looks a good bet. I dried the carpets out and keep checking for water, also heard that behind the trim panel in front of door there is wiring coming from pillar and sometimes water can travel through the wiring and drop down into the footwell. Worth checking that as well. Unfortunately it can be trial and error. Even when I took mine to dealers I was not filled with confidence by their efforts and they had the vehicle for 3 days to find the problem and they water tested it to check all was ok. Checked it again yesterday and pretty sure passenger carpet is damp again, would`nt mind if I was crossing water but parked on the drive, come on!

Hi y gwir,

Not an expert, but I heard that passenger footwell leak could also be heater matrix leak, so I guess a quick finger test of leaking water may confirm that. I have had wet carpet on drivers side a couple of times and it seems to be Air Con drain pipe clogged up, as it stopped when this was seen to.

Got an 03 ES td5.Last weekend I lifted the carpet on the driver's side and there was half an inch of water in the footwell.Posted similar enquiry myself this morning.Got under the car this evening, pulled the cone shaped bung out of the AC drain on the driver's side and got sleeve full of cold water.Do the same mate and you'll be sorted.

Yep had to do this on mine, also check the windscreen surround at the top corner drivers side as water can get in there.

The windscreen was my first choice when I found the water. So I run some clear sealant all around that.Bit upset when I found out it was the aircon drains.Just spent all weekend with a hairdryer getting the carpets dry!

Thanks for all the help it was greatly appreciated.Seeing how that b*****d in the government is about to put 2.35p on a litre it's nice I can be thankful about something!

Thanks for all the help and advice.

I checked the drains as advised, the problem side was clear but the drivers side was blocked. I pulled back the carpet at the side of the gearbox to expose the the pipe itself and found the pipe had come apart, should be OK now, many thanks.:)
