Hi there, I've always tried to steer away from water in my D2 simply because it's a V8 petrol. Doe's anyone have any experience or tips on water crossing with a V8?

If you don’t have to - don’t do it;
If you must - full prep of vehicle -
lift; axle breathers; snorkel; rad grill blind; door seals in good condition; etc etc.
Electrics prepped i.e. ignition coil moved and enclosed etc etc.
Winch protected.

With a V8 You might even go as far as to source the Fitted For Radio/Electromotive Pulse dizzy head and plug leads but they are rare and quite expensive.

Consider - water doesn’t just get into the engine compartment through the grill/washed up from beneath - if you haven’t got electric fans which you can switch off it gets sucked up from below and sprayed around the engine compartment.

AND only do it if you are prepared to go to town on checking/cleaning/stripping down lots of stuff AFTER you’ve been in the water - brakes check- emulsified oil here and there etc etc.

I recently refurbished a winch from a vehicle which had been ‘wading’ - it was in Sh*t state.

Ooh, I almost forgot - and make sure that any drain holes in your chassis are clear - especially on a D2.
You might even want to consider serious internal rust treatment pre wading.

Some marigold washing up gloves with the finger tips snipped off and some masking tape for the dizzy, apart from that, your good to go!
