Hi all, I have a 97 Disco TDi which has started to 'immobilise' itself....

Sometimes when I turn the ignition on all the dash lights come on as normal, then when I go to turn the engine over nothing happens. BUT the red warning with the Landrover/key icon lights up?

In the handbook it says to press the keyfob to deactivate the immobiliser - is this a sign of new batteries needed in the keyfob or is there likely to be another problem?

You have an active engine immobilisation system where you have to press the unlock button on the fob to re-mobilise. Then there's the passive system where the fob only has to be in the close vicinity of the ignition switch to re-mobilise the engine. If you have a two button fob then the system "should be" passive.

Yes, I have a 2-button system. It hasn't been a problem until this week and now I'm not sure if it needs a specialist to check it over.

I wouldn't want to be stuck in the middle of nowhere like the last time twhen the alarm/imob went Kaput so I'm hoping it's nothing too dramatic?

I sure we are all with u on the last bit. Don't why the lamp lights that is strange.
Why not put the the unlock code in your mobile along with how to input it saved in you text drafts.

change the battery in the fob. Sounds like it's on the way out. they play silly buggers when they are on the way out. Mine is nearly flat on my fob at the moment. I have to keep the fob warm otherwise it wont work. Gonna ge a new battery tomorrow.
