Hi guys joined the forum in hopes someone can help me,

My husband has been putting a lot of time energy and money into our Freelander and his birthday is coming up soon and I really want to get him a full new radio with the full display gps Bluetooth etc but i am struggling with the sizes

We have a 2006 MK1 Freelander facelift edition

I think I am correct in looking for a double din screen stereo but I have found ones that say compatible with Freelander 1 and they are 7" display
and others that say compatible with Freelander 1 but are 6.2"

I can't find the sizes for the Freelander 1 factory fitted radio or the opening dimensions on google anywhere (or I am using the wrong search terms and not the 'official' names for the parts!) and I don't want to take a tape measure out as I could end up measuring the wrong bit or not account for the fixing etc,

Can anyone help me with what exact size display I need for the car and also any necessary extras I will need to buy to fit it (it won't be me fitting it don't worry!)

Thanks guys in advance

A facelift FL1 does take a double DIN HU but it's not a direct fit. You'll need an adapter panel to mount the HU and the wiring kit to connect up the electrics.

With regards the actual unit itself, if your not worried about playing dvd / cds then you can get some very good mechless head units now which will save you a lot of money. Everything works on them using android like on a phone.

Its android 6.1 which is quite recent. I've one myself in my rover 75 I just sold, took 3 weeks from China, but was wonderful. But I would speak to him about what head unit he wants, he might have something in mind. Us Freelander owners are picky at times. Good luck and let us know.

Hi not wishing to hijack this thread but please Colin would you mind re posting the eBay links as they are not linking... Maybe just my phone not working properly.
