Just took delivery of the above winch. Its a bare winch and not being a winchy person, wondered if A i could wire it up to a battery just to see it work. B i have three connectors on the top of the motor.F1,F2 and to the left,A. What wires go on these? C. ive tried googlin it but cant get that spesific winch, what do i need to order to get it up and running,
Cheers Mick

Test the motor with a battery to the right terminals. I'd expect a to be earth and f1 f2 to be forward and reverse if the solenoid was hooked up
And then some bigger connections at the motor

Cheers Doc. So with a pair of jump leads, if i connect the black to a and flash the red on either of the others, it should spring to life:). do i have to go through Warn to get what i need or are there suppliers over this side of the pond

If they're the motor connections then yeah, on my husky the earth terminal is slightly larger than the positives as they're all in a small space but if they're spread out on yours I'd assume that the single ones the earth

You shoulc have a seperate earth cable i.e F3 is not an earth as suggested. Try under the motor housing usuallt underneath the motor.

F1 and F2 are all live however F3 as you say sometimes called A depending on how its 2jumped dictates direction of motor.

find earth attach to batteyr. Run a jump wire from A to F1 then apply 12v via a HD lead to F2. Motor should go. Then jump wire from A to F2 put 12V to F1 should rotate opposite way simples. Don't listen to Doc he needs to concerntrate harder on getting his V8 running than tosting your winch. Field winding 1 Field winding 2 some people have F3 (chinese copies) i dunno why it should be marked A.

Usually there is an 8mm threaded hole under the motor casing opposite to the A terminal. This has a very short m8 bolt in that the earth attaches to. failing that just to test attach to the casing somewhere to test but there should be a dedicated earth usually underneath.

Cheers Jai, will try that tomorrow.;)

I'm sure the earth is underneath same as one I had in to refurb recently. Look under usually the short bolt gets lobbed away with the earth cable as its so small and fiddly to fit once the winch is fitted to the winch plate
