Garage said it had been tweaked on the diaphram - They put that back to standard.

Then they wound down the fuel screw untill there was no power in the engine at all.

Try some cleaner in the fuel, turn the star screw back anticlockwise a 1/4 turn at a time and adjust the top screw as well, if this doesnt cure it then yes its pump time, plenty out there for sale at good price, I have got one but want more than the £50 someone has offered on here already...

Yeh. I thought I had built up a good relationship with this garage, been using them for about 4 years. They are Landrover enthusiasts and definately talked the talk about tweaking the fuel pump. But who knows, at the end of the day, they are there to make money ! No way of telling how hard they actualy tried.

Found a fitting guide. Sounds pretty serious. Ill probably just chuck the garage the pump and get them to do it. 2hrs labour for them apparently ?

Cheers for all the help and advice !

Its ok if you are methodical, and a Haynes helps. Specialist tools are a pin to lock off the pump, which can be a 3/8" drill bit or a piece of pipe which i can give you, and a 3/16" drill to locate in the flywheel timing slot. And a skinny flat 32mm spanner (ground down is easiest) to undo the fan. Parts are a timing belt, tensioner upgrade if needed (plastic to steel) pump and timing cover gaskets. Pump bolts are a bit fiddly, and crank pulley bolt is probably friggin tight.

If you have any doubts, get the garage to do it, but dont let em bull**** you.

Ive bought the pump off choppertrash. Very helpful guy. Im going to get the garage to fit it as it sounds like it would take me quite a long time to complete. Hopefully should all be fine after that. Cheers again !

Swapped my 200 pump without takin the timing cover etc off, just the inspection cover, kept the belt tight with a bar and shoved the other pump on, worked a treat:)
