Ive just dicovered we have loads of push fit hose connectors in the stores at work, i'd like to make my own wading kit up but i dont know what size the axle breather plug thread is. Does anyone have any ideas? Also any other thread sizes for the gearbox, timing cover etc etc.
Thanks

if yu have the exsisting LR breather just cut short and fit a 6mm pushfit straight connector. or if remove breather pipe unions. and sweat 6mm OD pipe onto the union tails

Banjos are a bit crappy though, prone to blocking and reduced flow compared to push fits.

OEM axle/box threads is 1/8" bsp.

Make it all up from 6mm bits and bobs, nice :)

What Flow?? All they have to do is allow excess air pressure escape in the event of overheating in side the axles & boxes. All I've ever done on mine is cut off old breathers heat up 6mm pushfit tubing in a kettle and push it onto the banjos. worked everytime with no problems.

Yeah I'm sure it's fine, I just took the view that if you did get a "whoosh" situation when dunked in cold water, I'd want as little restriction as possible on the breather to prevent water entering through the seals. Especially as the rear breather is about 5 times longer than standard now.

And pushfit 1/8" bsp elbows are about a quid each so I thought it was easier/neater to have pushfits on the axle than the banjos...
