just looking into registering the new landy. (93 110 200tdi) It will be registered through a vat registered company. I was looking at the way revenue calculate it. Am i right in thinking if i get the weight above 2500kgs i will be charged €50?? Has anyone got any experience with this? thanks :)

When I moved over, my vehicles were registered free, but i assumed that the E50 applied to all newly imported vehicles. Didnt know there was a wieght scale. Have you checked on their web site? If not give them a call.

right, ive had another look with a slightly more awake brain :) the defender 110 hicap, i am assuming, doesnt have a gross (weight of itself+maximum load+full tank) of above 3500kgs therefore it fits into a category whereby it is charged 13.3% of its current market value as decided by revenue. now, if i check this value on their site, it gives me a figure of €2250 meaning that VRT is €299. Now, is this figure accurate or is it up to the muppet sitting behind the desk at the NCT center :( anyone any idea?

hi mick, i was considiring this too... its up online as being worth 2250 and its clearly worth a lot more... have i much ground to stand on?
When you say its online at 2250, is that the vrt office value or its age related value. Either way, thats good for you but as far as insurance value, you would want it valued at a higher price (replacement price) because of the mods.

there is an online vrt calculator, and when i enter the details, its current market value is set at €2250 so vrt is €299 but having talked to the guy out there today its basically at there discression... could end up being a whole lot more...

Do you have to pay VRT if you`ve had the vehicles longer than 12 months?
I am moving over soon. I have been told it will just be the admin fee of 50euroish, but not sure.
