I know the above has been covered before but after nearly blowing my head gasket towing a trailer up balloon hill darn sarf i think its about time to sort out a fan...the original viscous fan shook itself to bits a few weeks ago and tbh its not been an issue until today.

I have searched for about 2 hours but i now give up
I seem to remember soneone on here saying if you connect a thermal switch to 2 terminals on the wiring of the a/c condensor fans they could be used as cooling fans.......a/c dont work so not a problem using the fans.
And the location of these teminals is???????????????:D

It can be done but obviously you need a temperature switch to trigger the fans to come on.
Switches that fit into the top hose are available or an elbow with provision to take a sensor can be adapted to suit though bear in mind that the majority of sensors are threaded M20/M22. The sensor is wired directly to the condenser fams by splicing into the wiring from the engine bay fuse box.
The elbow I refer to is the one on the inlet manifold that the top hose is attached to. I believe the 4.0 uses an elbow with a sensor but the hole is too small.
Send me a PM and I will let you have details of the adaptor I made together with the sensor type that I fiited to my 4.6.
Maybe your overheating problem lies elsewhere though ???

Had a look paul but as the a/c dont work seems daft to add more kit to the car when there is already fans i could use....apart from that i'm a tight yorkshireman:D:D

Was thinking of using one of these irish...
TOP HOSE THERMOSTAT KIT FOR ELECTRIC FANS 40mm FITTING on eBay (end time 30-Aug-10 10:19:51 BST)

The overheating was purely down to not having a viscous fan on the car and giving it the beans up a long steep hill with a trailer carrying a large bike....it's normally fine unless stood for a while in traffic.

Just buy a new viscous fan or fit a Kenlowe. Why would you drive around without a properly working fan. Asking for trouble.

Kenlowe fans are great but pointless when you already have 2 unused fans in place. I use a thermostat that just tapes to the top hose with a bit of pipe lagging over it. I cut into one of the wires from the tri way switch on the aircon. Works fine.

As the Frechman says, just splice into the signal wire from the Trinary switch to the fan relays in the engine bay fuse box.
Fan wise, there are two big babies sat at the front which are unused most of the time, even with aircon fitted and working, especially in the UK climate...more airflow through those than a Kenlowe I am sure.
