Hey, the viscous fan assembly on my 90's pretty much gone now and earlier went to the local breakers (cws in glastonbury) to get a 2nd hand one. After fitting it i realised that it too was shot (i think) therefore began the usual internet trawl. I've found Bearmach ones for about 30 quid (postage not included), which seems very reasonable, I just wondered if they or the brand were any good or whether for the under £40 mark I would be better off searching through the breakers yard.

Thanks

Ollie

I've been runnin my deepender without a fan at all for ages.
The Rad is hooge and the engine is more efficient without it.
The temp gauge has never gone above 5/8 on the scale, whatever the ambient temp and driving conditions.

Me too (Trewey took it off for me!!!) and as said it never gets much above half, recon it's made a bit of difference to fuel consumption too. It got to about 5/8 at the local muddy site the other day when it got all clogged up and i was drivin round in low for a bit, and sometimes on motorway hills, but never more!

my 200 tdi dont have a proper fan either .... got a leccy one on a switch tho but never needed to switch it on ....

Well I'm not really sure mines doing anything either, however upon starting a new job, I'm traveling around the mendip hills in fairly low gears due to the inclines and the temp gauge reads pretty much the end of the white (and thats at half 5 in the morning!).

Anyhoo anyone got any opinions on Bearmach as a company or their products, are they alright, amazing crap etc... just so i know.

Thanks

Ollie

Exactly, take the fan off (reverse thread, you might need a special spanner to get it off) - you should be fine, but for peace of mind carry it round for a while and if it looks to be getting a bit hot, whack it back on! (although i'd be very surprised if you need to)

Bearmach stuff is OK.

If your temp is running that high, there's sommat else wrong - blocked rad, low coolant, faulty gauge, faulty sender, loose fan belt, duff water pump.......

The water pump is fine, i only put it on there a matter or 2 weeks ago. Don't think the waterways are blocked, 'cos i flushed them all out good an proper with the hose, until it all ran clear, how else can I tell? Also how can i tell about airlocks? The system all feels hot, the heater works, all ideas welcome
