My defender 30tdi fan spins stiffly when cold , But noticed it wobbles . What sort of job to swap and is it Just the coupling that needs replaceing or the timing cover ???

It's on an anticlockwise thread and comes off fairly easily, especially if you have the right spanner. SPANNER LINKY
The belt can develop a squeak if it's not running true. Is the belt meandering or just the fan look wobbly?

The pulley feels ok , took the tension off the belt and if any movement its minicule , it all looks to be rad side of the big nut that the fan moves . So hopefully dodged a bulet . Do you need the kinked spanner on a def 300tdi . Will pull if off tomorrow in case it comes off .

Yes, unless you can improvise with something, but that's not easy. Very easy with the spanner.

Hi taken your advise and booked one from Halfruds with trade card only £10 , I could get one of ebay but i dont want to wait , i want it off asap before the imbalance causes other damage especially the timing cover bearing .
